A mother from Britain, currently in a coma in Gran Canaria, has developed sepsis, according to her family. Initially diagnosed with pneumonia, doctors decided to drain fluid from her lungs. Despite being placed in an induced coma during a family vacation, the mother of five had shown signs of improvement.
However, her family now reports a deterioration in her condition, with sepsis affecting her bloodstream. Her husband, Jamie, provided an update from the island, mentioning that the sepsis was detected in time and being treated with antibiotics. Unfortunately, recent developments revealed a setback as the pneumonia reappeared in her lungs, alongside the sepsis spreading in her blood. The medical team is facing challenges in finding the appropriate antibiotics for treatment, necessitating further blood tests.
Initially, doctors in Gran Canaria requested £3,000 upfront for a CT scan upon her admission. Jamie explained that one of her lungs was filled with fluid, and the other partially so, but the family faces issues with insurance coverage due to Emily not disclosing a recent battle with pneumonia before traveling to the Canary Islands.
With the insurance company difficult to reach, Jamie had to return to England to handle childcare matters before going back to Spain. A GoFundMe page has been set up by Jamie to assist in covering medical expenses and bringing Emily back home. Expressing gratitude for any support, Jamie emphasized Emily’s young age and her role as a mother to their children.
As of the latest update, £11,000 has been raised towards the £15,000 target. To contribute, visit the provided link.
