A man from the UK has tragically passed away in a paragliding incident in the northeast region of Spain. The 63-year-old individual met his untimely demise when he became entangled in power lines at approximately 1:20 pm local time yesterday.

Upon receiving the emergency call, firefighters and paramedics promptly responded to the scene near Palau de Noguera, a quaint historical village close to Tremp in the Catalan province of Lleida. Despite their efforts to aid the man, he sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the location.

Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the accident; however, initial indications suggest that the man’s death was a tragic accident. It remains unclear whether the British national resided in Spain or was paragliding while on vacation.

This incident comes after a similar fatality last month when a 68-year-old paraglider lost his life in the same province. The regional Generalitat government’s spokesperson described the response to the recent tragedy, mentioning the swift actions of the firefighters and medical teams who attempted to save the victim before confirming his passing.

In a separate paragliding mishap in Portugal in July 2023, another British man lost his life when he crashed near a scenic area north of Lisbon. The incident prompted a large-scale search operation, and despite medical intervention, the individual succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The accident in Portugal occurred in Vale Bom, located in the Cadaval municipality, near the Montejunto Mountains, known for its picturesque landscapes and being a renowned wine-producing region.
