Brooklyn Beckham has intensified his conflict with his parents following a harsh critique. The aspiring cook issued a significant statement this week, where he denounced his parents, David and Victoria Beckham.
In the statement, he expressed that “Brand Beckham comes first” and rebuked his parents for manipulating the portrayal of him and his spouse, Nicola Peltz. He claimed to have faced relentless criticism since he began standing up to his family.
“From the moment I started asserting myself with my family, I’ve endured constant attacks from my parents, both privately and publicly, orchestrated by them and shared with the media,” he declared in his statement.
He continued, “My family prioritizes public image and endorsements above everything else. Brand Beckham takes precedence. The concept of family ‘love’ is determined by your social media presence or how promptly you abandon your commitments to participate in a family photo shoot, even if it conflicts with our professional responsibilities.”
He elaborated, “For years, we have made considerable efforts to attend and support every fashion show, party, and media event to portray ‘our flawless family!’ However, when my wife requested my mother’s assistance to aid displaced dogs during the LA fires, my mother declined. The notion that my wife dictates my actions is completely erroneous. I have been under my parents’ control for the majority of my life. I grew up overwhelmed by anxiety.”
Brooklyn has now escalated his dispute with his parents by updating his social media profile picture to showcase a tattoo of Nicola’s eyes, indicating his allegiance.
He accused his parents of attempting to “sabotage” his relationship with Nicola, alleging that the situation worsened by the time of their 2022 wedding. Brooklyn asserted that Nicola was left without a dress “at the last minute” for the wedding when Victoria’s team withdrew from making the gown. Additionally, he claimed that his “parents persistently pressured and tried to bribe me into relinquishing my name rights, which would have impacted me, my wife, and our future offspring.”
In a recent interview, David addressed the “mistakes” his children make on social media. He emphasized, “I have always emphasized the influence of social media … for better or worse.”
He added, “The content accessible to kids nowadays can be risky. Personally, especially with my kids, I encourage using it responsibly. I have utilized my platform for UNICEF, raising awareness about global issues affecting children. I strive to educate my children similarly, despite their errors. Children are allowed to make mistakes; that’s how they learn. I teach my kids to learn from their mistakes. Sometimes, you have to allow them to make those mistakes.”
