Fortunately, even though the peak moment will not be visible, the Moon will still present itself as fully illuminated to the naked eye once nightfall arrives on Tuesday and Wednesday. This means that a vast number of individuals throughout the UK are anticipated to catch a glimpse of July’s full Moon. A complete lunar cycle, known as a full moon, occurs approximately every 29.5 days. The name “Buck Moon” is derived from the period when male deer, referred to as bucks, start growing a new set of antlers rapidly.
The practice of naming full moons has a long history, with various cultures using them to denote seasonal changes and mark the passage of time. July’s full moon is also recognized as the Thunder Moon due to the common occurrence of thunderstorms in the month. Additionally, it is called the Hay Moon, paying homage to the yearly hay harvest.
Current weather forecasts suggest that a considerable portion of the UK will have optimal conditions for viewing the night sky on July 29. The clearest skies are expected in central, southern, and eastern England, with stable weather patterns, light breezes, and minimal cloud cover post-sunset.

On the early hours of August 28, a partial lunar eclipse will also be observable, providing another rare spectacle for people across the UK to enjoy in the night sky.
