An American man named Edward Marchion recently faced a shocking revelation after purchasing a four-bedroom house in a wealthy Connecticut neighborhood on a spacious two-acre plot. The catch? He was prohibited from entering the property before finalizing the deal. Despite this unusual condition, Marchion proceeded with the purchase and emerged as the winning bidder. However, upon finally stepping inside the house, he made a grim discovery – it was already occupied by three deceased individuals. This unexpected turn of events tarnished what initially seemed like a lucrative deal for Marchion, whose $525,000 bid now appeared less appealing compared to the property’s estimated market value of $820,000.

Connecticut State Police have identified the remains found in the house as “skeletal”. The bodies of Sally Anne Cash, a 54-year-old woman, and her son Brian Cash, who would have turned 23 that month, have been confirmed. The third body is undergoing DNA testing for formal identification. Sally Anne and her husband, Paul Cash, acquired the residence in 2019 through a mortgage loan but ceased mortgage payments in late 2024, leading to foreclosure proceedings. Although the circumstances surrounding the deaths and the duration of the bodies in the house remain unclear, authorities have ruled out foul play and assured the public of no imminent threats.

The house was auctioned by the bank, with Marchion securing the property sight unseen in a foreclosure auction. Such transactions typically operate on a “buyer beware” basis, where buyers have limited information and no access to inspect the interior before bidding based solely on external conditions and public records. The previous homeowners, the Cashes, failed to respond to foreclosure notices, leading to a default judgment and subsequent auction. Christopher Thogmartin, overseeing the auction, noted the property’s abandonment appearance and the mysterious appearance of warning signs prior to the auction, indicating possible occupant presence.

The discovery of the remains, suspected to have been present for several months to years, shocked prospective buyers, including Marchion, who had placed a deposit on the property before the distressing find. Marchion has requested a delay in the property’s closing pending police investigations. The circumstances of the Cashes’ deaths and the duration of their presence in the house remain unresolved.
