An observer recounted the moment when bystanders intervened to stop the assailant in Golders Green.

Following a violent incident in North London this morning, a 45-year-old man has been apprehended on suspicion of attempted murder after two individuals, one in their 70s and the other in their 30s, were attacked in a bustling area.

Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor, in charge of Counter Terrorism Policing, has officially labeled the event as a terrorist act.

Witnesses reported seeing an individual armed with a knife on Golders Green Road, as stated by the Jewish security group Shomrim on social media.

The alarming assault has spurred calls for action from the chief rabbi and the Israeli foreign ministry, in response to a string of attacks targeting Jewish establishments in London.

Ben Grossnass, a father-of-five working for the security service Shomrim, shared details with the Mirror, mentioning, “The initial victim was leaving a synagogue near where recent ambulance incidents occurred. The perpetrator then targeted an elderly man waiting at a bus stop.”

Grossnass further stated, “Brave individuals subdued the attacker by overpowering him.”

Rabbi Levi Schapiro of Stamford Hill’s Jewish Community Council provided updates from the hospital where the victims were taken, confirming their local connections and the severity of their conditions.

Counter terror police are spearheading the investigation, collaborating with the Metropolitan Police to ascertain any potential terrorism links.

Commissioner Laurence Taylor emphasized that one of the investigative angles is exploring if the Golders Green attack specifically aimed at the Jewish community.
