The Canadian women’s basketball team concluded the group stage of the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament with a 70-64 victory over Mexico, the host country, in Guadalajara on Thursday night. Yvonne Ejim led Canada with 19 points, contributing to their undefeated 3-0 record, while Syla Swords added 17 points to the scoreboard. Mariana Valenzuela scored 17 points for Mexico.
In the upcoming semifinals on Saturday, Canada is scheduled to face New Zealand, while the host team will compete against Brazil. The tournament’s final match is slated for Sunday. The victorious team will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in February 2028.
