The Canadian Armed Forces are currently hosting an event in collaboration with Canadian drone manufacturers to evaluate the performance of their technologies in practical situations. Known as the Red Cobalt Uncrewed Systems Accelerator, the event is taking place at a NATO test facility located in the Ottawa Valley, specifically designed for testing advanced technologies.

With the rapid advancement of drone technology and its increasing significance in modern warfare, the government is keen on expediting the adoption of drones. Lt.-Gen. Darcy Molstad, who leads the Canadian Joint Forces Command, emphasizes the importance of collaborating with the industry to drive innovation swiftly. He highlights the event’s role in facilitating direct communication between military drone operators and industry experts to exchange insights on ongoing platform development.

Molstad is spearheading the Canadian Armed Forces’ endeavors to identify the range and types of new uncrewed platforms necessary for military operations, including cost-effective drones like those utilized in the conflict in Ukraine.
