CBC has secured an expanded presence in Canadian curling through a fresh five-year broadcast agreement that will enhance coverage of the Grand Slam of Curling playoffs and Rock League games across its platforms. The deal with The Curling Group, unveiled on Thursday, will result in over 300 hours of combined television programming on CBC and Sportsnet during the 2026-27 season.

A notable development for CBC is its involvement with Rock League. The professional league, which premiered in April, is set to return to CBC in January 2027, with every match accessible on CBC television and CBC Gem. Additionally, selected games will be broadcasted on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV and Sportsnet on Thursdays and Fridays.

Rock League comprises six mixed-gender franchises with curlers from various parts of the world. Its upcoming season will showcase events on specific weekends in January and April, featuring games from Thursday to Sunday.

In addition to Rock League, CBC will play a more significant role in the Grand Slam of Curling. Sportsnet will remain the primary broadcaster for all five Grand Slam events commencing in October. The coverage will include three draws per day from Tuesday to Friday, with CBC and CBC Gem joining Sportsnet+ for Saturday’s playoff coverage. The championship finals on Sundays will be aired on Sportsnet, with select finals also broadcasted on CBC throughout the season. Moreover, morning round-robin draws and tiebreakers from Tuesday to Saturday will be streamed on Rock Channel.

This new agreement underscores CBC’s extensive history with curling and reinforces its presence in major Canadian curling events. Chris Wilson, CBC’s executive director of sports and Olympics, expressed enthusiasm about sharing another season of Rock League with audiences nationwide. The agreements with The Curling Group are seen as pivotal in expanding the national audience for both the Grand Slam and Rock League, according to Nic Sulsky, CEO and co-founder of The Curling Group.

Over the next five years, Canadian viewers can look forward to more ways of following both the Grand Slam playoff weekends and the second season of Rock League on CBC.
