Renowned celebrity chef James Martin recently shared a nerve-wracking incident where he feared he might have accidentally harmed a guest on his popular ITV show. During an interview with radio presenter Jenni Falconer on LNER’s Routes podcast, they reminisced about a scary moment that occurred on James Martin’s Saturday Morning.
Jenni recalled the incident when she choked on a large piece of chicken parmigiana prepared by James on the show. Despite realizing the piece was too big for her mouth, she attempted to eat it, leading to her choking.
James, feeling panicked, described how he saw Jenni’s face turn pale and contemplated whether to perform the Heimlich Maneuver to help her. Jenni admitted that she struggled to breathe during the ordeal, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.
Reflecting on the incident with a humorous twist, James jokingly remarked that he thought Jenni might have been the first and only guest he unintentionally harmed on the show.
Apart from the near-choking experience, the conversation between Jenni and James also delved into their love for food, particularly fish and chips. James, hailing from Malton, Yorkshire, praised the Magpie Café in Whitby, North Yorkshire, as the ultimate destination for top-notch fish and chips.
Recounting his delightful experience at the café, James recommended ordering a large haddock with mushy peas, accompanied by salt, vinegar, and tartar sauce. He vividly described the ambiance of enjoying the meal by the seaside, highlighting the sensory pleasure of the steam rising from the dish.
James Martin’s Saturday Morning is set to return on ITV, providing viewers with more culinary delights and entertaining conversations.
