A mother claimed that her seven-year-old daughter suffered painful blisters when a squishy NeeDoh toy exploded on her hands. The incident is part of a concerning trend where children are getting burned by heating these toys in microwaves to make them softer and easier to squeeze.

The girl, Livi, did not heat the £12.99 NeeDoh toy but was still injured when the seal broke and the liquid leaked onto her hand. Despite immediately running her hand under cold water, blisters formed, prompting her mother to seek medical help. Livi was treated at Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and then taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for further assistance.

The mother, René, shared that her daughter, who loves the NeeDoh toy, came to her with burns after the liquid leaked out unexpectedly. Despite initially thinking the toy was non-toxic, the girl experienced significant pain, leading them to seek professional medical care.

René emphasized the seriousness of the situation, noting that Livi needed daily doctor visits for dressing changes as her wounds heal. She also highlighted the potential danger, especially for younger children, urging caution when using such toys. The distributor of NeeDoh, Bigjigs Toys, is investigating the incident to determine the authenticity of the toy involved.
