Chris Brown was seen at Southwark Crown Court today, in anticipation of his upcoming trial for an assault charge later this year. The R&B artist arrived at the court this morning for a case management hearing related to the alleged assault, which is set for October. Brown, who denied charges of assault causing bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon in public, also refuted the accusation of attempting to cause serious bodily harm in a previous court session.
During the hearing, Brown acknowledged his supporters in the public gallery before leaving court. Security guards accompanied him upon his arrival at the court, with additional guards stationed at the courtroom doors. Brown’s co-defendant, HoodyBaby, also appeared in court today. The brief hearing, overseen by Judge Tony Baumgartner, was focused on trial preparations and reiteration of Brown’s bail conditions.
Last year, Judge Baumgartner modified Brown’s bail terms, allowing him to continue his international tour after providing a specific address and abiding by restrictions. Brown was arrested in the UK last year and spent time at HMP Forest Bank before appearing in court. Reflecting on his experience, Brown mentioned the “really nice” staff at Forest Bank during a later performance in Manchester.
The charges against Brown stem from an incident at a London club in 2023, where music producer Abe Diaw was reportedly assaulted. Brown has consistently pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. Today, he appeared at Southwark Crown Court in a more casual outfit compared to previous court appearances.
