Clare Balding recently shared a story about her spouse, Alice Arnold, advising her not to dance at an event featuring the legendary singer Neil Diamond. During an episode of Inheritance Tracks, Clare, a prominent BBC presenter, discussed the first song played on the show, which happened to be Neil Diamond’s iconic track, “Sweet Caroline.”
Clare reminisced about taking her mother to a Neil Diamond concert due to her mother’s admiration for the singer. Despite her mother’s usual lack of interest in attending events, Clare managed to secure tickets to an audience with Neil Diamond, which was a star-studded affair. Alice, Clare’s wife and a former Radio 4 employee, had warned Clare against dancing at the event, fearing it would be embarrassing. However, when “Sweet Caroline” started playing, Clare couldn’t resist joining in.
In another instance, Clare opened up about the loss of their beloved dog, Archie, in 2020, and their decision to wait for the right time to bring a new dog into their home. The couple, who recently relocated from London to Surrey, faced a dilemma about getting a new pet due to Clare’s demanding work schedule, particularly during the upcoming Olympics and Paralympics coverage.
Clare emphasized the importance of responsible pet ownership, noting that her busy schedule and ongoing house renovation project meant that introducing a new dog into their lives at that time wouldn’t be feasible. Despite their desire for a new furry companion, they acknowledged the need to wait for the right circumstances.
Clare Balding is set to appear alongside other presenters on BBC One’s tournament coverage on July 11, offering viewers insights and commentary.
