Conservative MP Larry Brock to Resign from House of Commons

Published on

Conservative Member of Parliament Larry Brock has announced his intention to step down from his position in the House of Commons next month. Representing the Ontario constituency of Brantford—Brant South—Six Nations, Brock was elected to Parliament in both 2021 and 2025, having previously worked as an assistant Crown attorney.

In a social media post on Thursday, Brock revealed that he had accepted a new opportunity to return to his previous role at the Brantford Crown Attorney’s office. His resignation is set to take effect on September 18, as indicated in the farewell letter he shared.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre expressed gratitude to Brock for his service as an MP, extending warm wishes for success and happiness to Brock and his family. The Conservative Party, which secured the second-highest number of seats in the 2025 federal election, has witnessed the departure of seven MPs from its caucus, including Brock.

Several Conservative MPs have recently switched sides, with four crossing the floor to join the governing Liberals. Additionally, Richard Martel, the former MP for Chicoutimi—Le Fjord in Quebec, was appointed to the Senate by Prime Minister Mark Carney in July. Another Conservative MP, Cathay Wagantall, who has served since 2015, is stepping down from her seat in Yorkton—Melville, Saskatchewan, effective August 31.
