“Convicted Killer Confesses: Sold Illegal Firearms”

Published on

A man previously convicted for the murder of PC Sharon Beshenivsky has confessed to selling illegal firearms to criminals, leading to new charges. Faisal Razzaq, who served 11 years of a life sentence for the killing in 2005, will now face sentencing for conspiracy to sell prohibited firearms and possession of firearms and ammunition with intent to endanger life, among other charges.

Razzaq’s involvement in the illegal gun trade was revealed during the trial of four other individuals connected to a criminal network responsible for converting and distributing weapons. This network included a right-wing extremist, Thomas McKenna, who was found stockpiling firearms and explosives in preparation for a potential conflict against Muslims and immigrants.

Prosecutors disclosed that police discovered a converted pistol and ammunition at Razzaq’s residence in September 2024. His role in the operation was to receive firearms for resale to criminal clients. The network first came to light when a driver was caught with a converted gun and cash in Harrow in August 2024. Razzaq’s connection to the case emerged shortly after Piran Ditta Khan was apprehended for Beshenivsky’s murder.

McKenna, along with his girlfriend Tina Smith and two other accomplices, faced charges related to converting firearms, selling prohibited firearms, and possessing explosive materials. Authorities raided McKenna’s home in November 2024, uncovering a workshop where he converted firearms for criminal groups. The police also found homemade explosives and materials for creating more, indicating plans for violence against specific groups.

McKenna’s messages, which included references to attacking Muslims and immigrants, indicated a dangerous ideology. His partner Smith was complicit in these activities, assisting in making explosives and possessing prohibited firearms. The couple had substantial quantities of explosive materials and a video guide on manufacturing explosives. Other members of the network, including Allan Crosby and Ryan Smith, were implicated in possession of firearms and ammunition charges.

The sentencing for McKenna, Tina Smith, Crosby, and Ryan Smith is ongoing, with the court set to conclude the proceedings on February 6. The case underscores the serious nature of illegal firearms trafficking and extremist ideologies within criminal networks.
