The individual facing charges in connection with the tragic car crash involving Anthony Joshua has made a court appearance in Nigeria. Joshua’s coach, Latif Ayodele, and strength trainer, Sina Ghami, lost their lives in a collision with a stationary lorry near Lagos on December 29. Joshua, the former heavyweight champion, sustained injuries but survived.

Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, aged 46, attended Sagamu Magistrates Court in Ogun state near Lagos, where his case was adjourned to March 13. He had previously appeared in court on January 20, charged with offenses related to the incident. Kayode has not yet entered a plea and was released on bail of approximately £2,600. In addition to causing death by dangerous driving, he faces charges of driving without due care and a valid driver’s license, potentially leading to imprisonment. Prosecutors requested more time to gather evidence.

Joshua narrowly escaped death in the crash and was discharged from the hospital on New Year’s Eve. He has since returned to the UK and is undergoing rehabilitation. Joshua expressed gratitude for the widespread support he has received during his recovery, acknowledging the loss of his colleagues in the accident.

Reflecting on the bond they shared, Joshua emphasized the significant role his late friends played in his life, both personally and professionally. Determined to honor their legacy, Joshua stated plans to continue their work and dreams.
