Presenter Dan Walker is facing an employment tribunal later this month over allegations of sexism, misogyny, and workplace bullying. The former BBC Breakfast host will be in London for the hearing starting on April 20, where he will confront his former Channel 5 News co-anchor, Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije. The proceedings are anticipated to span up to five weeks.

Walker, 49, who joined Channel 5 News in April 2022, is a respondent in the case along with ITN, the program’s producer, and Paramount, Channel 5’s parent company. Vanderpuije, 47, who departed from Channel 5 in 2024 after a six-year tenure, has raised the allegations stemming from her time working alongside Walker during her final year at the broadcaster.

Strongly refuting the accusations, Walker’s defense is that the claims will be addressed through the tribunal process, as stated by an ITN Spokesperson to the Mirror. As the legal battle unfolds, Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije, with a background in journalism and broadcasting, has brought forward claims of a toxic work environment encompassing racism, sexism, misogyny, and bullying at Channel 5 News.

Represented by lawyer Jonathan Coad, who previously represented high-profile figures, Vanderpuije asserts that her attempts to settle the matter out of court have not been successful. In response to the allegations, Walker has maintained his innocence, citing a previous independent inquiry that exonerated him from similar accusations.

The upcoming trial is expected to shed light on the conflicting narratives surrounding the workplace dynamics and ethics at Channel 5 News.
