Carlos Gu recently shared insights into his future on the popular TV show “Strictly Come Dancing” amidst changes to the lineup. Since joining the show in 2022, the accomplished dancer has partnered with three celebrities: Molly Rainford, Angela Scanlon, and Karen Carney, with whom he clinched the Glitterball trophy last season.

Transitioning from the competitive dance scene to television, Carlos acknowledged that it marked a significant shift from his past 20 years in the industry. Previously, he had a successful competitive partnership with Susan Sun, winning various competitions.

Reflecting on the dance industry, Carlos, 33, described it as demanding and unpredictable, highlighting the constant judgment and uncertainty that dancers face regardless of their hard work and skill.

Speaking about his experience on “Strictly,” Carlos expressed his realization that success on the show is not solely based on merit but also on external factors beyond his control, emphasizing the stark contrast between the dance and television worlds.

When asked about his future on the show during a podcast interview with Kate Thornton, Carlos admitted uncertainty about his return, awaiting confirmation from the BBC on the final cast announcements.

Several of Carlos’s co-stars, including Luba Mushtuk, Karen Hauer, Michelle Tsiakkas, and Nadiya Bychkova, have already departed from the show. Karen Hauer, the longest-serving female professional on the show for 14 years, shared that it was the right time for her to explore new opportunities outside the program.

The departures of popular hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, who recently stepped down from their hosting roles after an 11-year tenure, have also reshaped the show’s dynamics.
