A man named Muhammad Ans has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for committing multiple rapes against women he met on dating apps. Ans, 29, was found guilty of four rape charges involving three women after a trial at Plymouth Crown Court. In addition to the prison term, he will serve an additional three years on licence and has been placed on the sex offenders register for life.

The court learned that Ans targeted his victims through various dating apps such as Tinder, Bumble, and Baddoo between 2023 and 2025. One victim reported that Ans offered her $3,000 as compensation after raping her, urging her to keep silent about the incident.

The first assault occurred after Ans contacted a woman on Bumble, took her out for a meal, and then raped her at his place in Coventry. Subsequent incidents involved another victim whom Ans met on a different dating app and assaulted at his flat in Tavistock.

Despite denying the offenses during police interviews, Ans admitted to meeting the victims and claimed the encounters were consensual. However, evidence from messages exchanged with his victims revealed his manipulative tactics, including apologies and offers of gifts to maintain their silence.

Following investigations, Ans was charged in connection with the assaults on all three victims. During the sentencing, the victims shared the profound impact of the assaults on their lives, describing the emotional and psychological trauma they continue to endure.

Judge Matthew Turner KC emphasized the vulnerability of the victims and condemned Ans for exploiting their trust to fulfill his own desires. He highlighted Ans’s lack of remorse and his disregard for the victims’ consent, emphasizing the severity of his actions. Additionally, Ans will be required to register as a sex offender for life.

Police commended the bravery of the victims in coming forward and emphasized their commitment to supporting victims of violence and sexual offenses.
