“Denise Van Outen Opens Up About Struggles with Eczema”

Published on

Denise Van Outen, with a successful career spanning decades in the entertainment industry, first made her mark on the Les Misérables stage at the young age of 12. Known for her roles in The Big Breakfast, EastEnders, and her stint as a runner-up on Strictly Come Dancing, she has become a familiar face to many.

Despite her public success, Denise has faced personal challenges behind the scenes. In 2022, she candidly shared her struggles with painful eczema flare-ups, which significantly impacted her confidence. Eczema, a common skin condition affecting individuals of all ages, caused her discomfort and self-consciousness.

In a previous Instagram post, Denise revealed, “I have had eczema for as long as I can remember. I used to attribute it to my diet, but I noticed that it worsens in colder weather. It particularly affects my arms, leading to dry patches and occasional skin cracking if not managed properly.” She also mentioned adjusting her performance costumes to cover up her eczema flare-ups.

Statistics from the National Eczema Society indicate that eczema affects around one in five children and one in 10 adults in the UK. Among the various types of eczema, atopic dermatitis is a prevalent form that can manifest on different body areas.

The NHS explains that atopic eczema may result in skin issues such as dryness, itching, and inflammation. Symptoms can emerge at any age, typically starting in infancy and childhood, with fluctuations in severity over time.

Denise, in a sponsored promotion, recommended the Dry Skin Emollient from Doublebase UK to manage eczema symptoms. She praised its fast absorption and ability to retain skin moisture, aiding in restoring the skin’s natural protective barrier.

While this product may help, the NHS suggests other remedies for alleviating eczema symptoms, including proper skincare routines and avoiding triggers. For additional information, visit the NHS website.
