A passenger who engaged in disruptive behavior towards a flight attendant after being denied alcohol on a flight has been fined. Identified as Anthony Morrison-Taylor, aged 44, he drew attention from the cabin crew on an easyJet flight from Bristol to Newcastle in February 2024 due to signs of intoxication. Despite being informed that he would not be served more drinks, Morrison-Taylor reacted with verbal abuse.

Expressing his frustration, he stated, “You can all go away, I’m getting alcohol and you can’t stop me.” He proceeded to insult the staff, using offensive language. The flight attendant alerted authorities through air traffic control, leading to Morrison-Taylor’s arrest upon landing at Newcastle Airport. The court revealed that the unruly behavior occurred during turbulent conditions mid-flight.

In a statement, the flight attendant expressed shock over the incident, emphasizing his duty to ensure passenger safety. Morrison-Taylor, residing in Cellar Hill Close, Newbottle Village, Sunderland, admitted to a public order offense in September. Judge Gavin Doig postponed sentencing for six months under the condition that he refrained from further alcohol-related misconduct.

Having complied with the terms and refrained from additional offenses, Morrison-Taylor has been fined £500. Additionally, he was instructed to compensate the targeted flight attendant with £750 and contribute another £750 towards prosecution expenses. Judge Doig admonished him for his behavior on the aircraft, stressing the seriousness of his actions and the need for accountability. He expressed hope that Morrison-Taylor would not reoffend, considering his lack of prior criminal history.
