A doctor specializing in sexual health with a keen interest in penises was found to have stored 600 images related to this topic on his electronic devices. Dr. Timothy Girling, residing in West Molesey, Surrey, was accused of sexually assaulting his male patients, described as a severe breach of their trust in court proceedings.

Following a trial at Bournemouth Crown Court, Dr. Girling was sentenced to six years in prison after a jury convicted him of three sexual assault charges involving four patients, six voyeurism charges, and one attempted voyeurism charge. Additionally, the 55-year-old pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing indecent images of children, with 600 images of penises or individuals in “tight clothing” discovered on his devices.

During the trial, it was revealed that Dr. Girling would conduct sexual acts on patients under the pretense of medical examinations for issues such as rashes. He used his iPhone to secretly film appointments and even set up a camera to record men using a bathroom. The prosecutor, Rebecca Austin, stated that Dr. Girling exploited the concept of medical necessity to derive sexual pleasure from his actions.

One victim expressed feeling violated and vulnerable, stating that Dr. Girling had abused his authority. Ms. Austin mentioned that Dr. Girling had been diagnosed with autism, leading to a particular interest in penises. Despite being suspended and reinstated after a previous complaint, Dr. Girling continued his misconduct.

In sentencing Dr. Girling, Judge Jonathan Fuller KC dismissed the autism diagnosis as the root of his behavior, emphasizing that his actions were driven by sexual gratification. The judge condemned Dr. Girling’s betrayal of his patients’ trust and highlighted his abusive conduct despite his profession as a doctor.

Lucy Paddick from the Crown Prosecution Service condemned Dr. Girling’s actions, emphasizing that a doctor’s responsibility is to care for patients, not exploit them. She characterized his offenses as calculated and a severe violation of trust, emphasizing the prosecution’s commitment to pursuing such cases rigorously.
