The popular “Strictly Come Dancing” participant had previously been married to a woman, an event he described as the happiest day of his life.
In a candid discussion about his journey with his sexuality, Dr. Ranj disclosed that he first revealed his homosexuality to a close friend when he was around 30 years old, before informing his wife and family about it.
Reflecting on his past, he confessed, “I was in a marriage that eventually ended, and then came the challenge of navigating the reactions of friends and family. This realization occurred when I had achieved what I thought was my ideal life.”
Delving into his introspective journey, he shared, “I had attained the career I aspired to, a place I could call home, and had checked off all my goals. Yet, I still felt a void, a sense of something being amiss. Therapy helped me uncover these emotions.”
During his therapy sessions, the Morning Live presenter discovered that he was not living true to himself, realizing that the life he had meticulously planned was not his authentic path.
Describing the moment he embraced his true self, he likened it to a moment of chaos and rebuilding. Coming from an Indian Sikh background, revealing his truth to his wife was tough, but disclosing it to his family was even more challenging. Fortunately, his brothers reacted positively, creating a touching moment.
Gratefully acknowledging the support of his friends during this transformative period, Dr. Ranj expressed how their acceptance allowed him to embrace his genuine identity with greater freedom.
