Following an alleged hit-and-run incident, a driver has been apprehended after two police officers and another individual were hospitalized.
The event occurred in Hamilton, Scotland, on Fleming Way at approximately 9:30 am on Tuesday (April 28). The driver purportedly fled the scene as police approached the vehicle, causing injury to one officer and colliding with a parked car during the getaway.
In the collision, a 22-year-old male passenger and another police officer sustained injuries. All three individuals were admitted to the hospital, with their injuries reported as non-life-threatening.
An 18-year-old male has been arrested in connection with the incident and has also been hospitalized for precautionary measures.
Fleming Way remains closed while investigators conduct examinations related to the collision.
A spokesperson from Police Scotland stated: “An officer was injured as the vehicle attempted to flee. Subsequently, the vehicle collided with a stationary vehicle a short distance away.
“The 22-year-old male passenger and another officer sustained injuries in the crash. They, along with the driver, were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“The 18-year-old driver absconded from the scene but was later located, arrested in connection with the incident, and taken to the hospital as a precaution. Fleming Way remains inaccessible to facilitate collision investigations.”
