“Earn Nectar Points on Sainsbury’s Orders via Uber Eats”

Published on

Shoppers are encouraged to input their Nectar information prior to placing orders for Sainsbury’s products through Uber Eats. This significant enhancement of the loyalty program allows customers to earn one Nectar point for every £1 spent on eligible Sainsbury’s items via the Uber Eats app or website. It is essential for shoppers to input their complete Nectar card number during checkout to ensure they receive points, as retroactive point allocation is not possible.

The new collection feature is now accessible at participating Sainsbury’s outlets on Uber Eats, encompassing over 1,300 locations throughout the UK. This enables customers using the swift delivery service for fresh groceries, household necessities, or last-minute buys to accumulate rewards on their purchases. Once a Nectar card is linked, qualifying points will be added to the shopper’s account within 28 days, with a minimum spend requirement of £1.

Certain products are excluded from earning points, such as gift vouchers, baby formula, lottery entries, tobacco, vapes, nicotine items, over-the-counter medications, spirits, and liqueurs. Additional restrictions are in place for alcohol purchases in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

This launch expands the existing collaboration between Nectar and Uber, providing members with the opportunity to convert points into vouchers for Uber trips and Uber Eats orders. Consequently, customers can amass Nectar points when purchasing Sainsbury’s groceries via Uber Eats and later exchange their balance for an Uber voucher.

To redeem points, members should access the Nectar app, navigate to the “Partners” section, and select Uber. Katie Hunter, Uber Eats’ general manager for grocery and retail in the UK, expressed, “We understand the value Uber Eats customers place on Nectar, so incorporating points into their Sainsbury’s orders was an obvious choice. They can now earn Nectar points on all their Sainsbury’s essentials and use them across the entire Uber app, delivering flexibility, convenience, and value for customers alongside their preferred groceries.”

Mark Given, Sainsbury’s chief technology, marketing, and data officer, highlighted that this expansion offers Nectar members another avenue to benefit from the partnership. He emphasized, “Nectar members can already convert their points into Uber rides or Uber Eats treats – and now they can earn points when ordering Sainsbury’s groceries through Uber Eats as well. It’s another way we’re enhancing the Nectar experience, whether customers are stocking up on essentials, planning meals, or simplifying everyday life.”

Shoppers desiring to accumulate points must select groceries from a participating Sainsbury’s store via Uber Eats and input their Nectar card number before finalizing the transaction.
