easyJet Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Manchester due to Strong Winds

Published on

An easyJet flight issued a mid-air emergency alert while flying over the UK. The flight, originally bound for Edinburgh Airport, had to reroute to Manchester Airport due to strong winds earlier today.

Flight EJU7835 departed Amsterdam Airport Schiphol around 6:15 am on Thursday, March 12. It was scheduled to land in Edinburgh at approximately 7:50 am but had to change course after multiple unsuccessful landing attempts, as reported by the Daily Record.

Flight tracking data from FlightRadar24 revealed that the Airbus A320 attempted a landing at Edinburgh Airport but performed a ‘go-around’ maneuver, where the pilots aborted the landing, circled back, and tried again. Subsequently, the aircraft altered its course towards Manchester and activated an emergency procedure by squawking 7700.

The flight successfully landed at Manchester Airport around 8:20 am. easyJet stated that the wind conditions at Edinburgh exceeded the aircraft’s operational limits and arranged coach transfers for passengers back to Edinburgh.
