Passengers of EasyJet at Montenegro’s Tivat Airport have voiced frustration over being stranded without provisions for more than 24 hours. Dr. Ron Roberts, a 70-year-old passenger, criticized the airline for what he termed as abandoning them amidst chaotic conditions. The situation led to overcrowding, with one passenger reportedly collapsing.
Originally scheduled to depart for London Luton at 12:40 the previous day, Dr. Roberts and others found themselves stuck due to continuous flight delays and a lack of assistance from airport officials. They were allegedly asked to find their own accommodations when the airport closed, forcing them to spend the night on the streets.
Upon reopening, the passengers were left waiting in a corridor near departures, with limited access to food. Dr. Roberts highlighted the deteriorating conditions, expressing concern for the health and safety of passengers. He lamented the lack of care from the airline, describing the environment as suffocating and hazardous.
The airline, EasyJet, attributed the delays to a bird strike on a previous flight and subsequent air traffic control restrictions. They acknowledged the inconvenience caused and promised to reimburse affected customers for their accommodation expenses. EasyJet emphasized their commitment to passenger safety and well-being, pledging to investigate the handling of the situation at Tivat Airport.
Authorities from the Foreign Office confirmed their involvement in addressing the circumstances at the airport, while passengers continue to endure the challenging situation.
