“EF0 Tornado Strikes Near Kemptville, Ontario”

Published on

Tornado experts have verified that a tornado struck an area close to Kemptville, Ontario, last Sunday. The tornado developed following a passing storm, causing damage to vegetation and farmland, as detailed by the Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP) at Western University. An assessment revealed tree destruction indicating wind speeds peaking at 115 km/h along a brief and narrow trajectory. The researchers approximated that the tornado originated at 3:45 p.m. and moved 1.18 kilometers northeast. The team classified the incident as an EF0 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, the lowest rating for tornadoes and downbursts, with ratings ranging from EF0 to EF5. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, according to NTP. Environment Canada had issued a yellow-level rainfall alert for eastern Ontario and western Quebec that weekend, cautioning of potential rainfall between 50 and 100 millimeters.
