An elderly couple who escaped from their care home due to their dissatisfaction has been located after a search effort in Melbourne. Colin, 89, and Claudette Geraghty, 83, left Ryman Nellie Melba Retirement Village on Saturday morning, visiting a shopping center before driving away in their car. Concerned neighbors and family members raised the alarm when they couldn’t reach the couple, who have medical conditions requiring attention.

After being missing for over a day, the couple was found in Maryborough, northwest of Melbourne. Their daughter revealed that they were unhappy at the care facility, expressing a desire to be back home together. There were previous attempts by the couple to escape, indicating their discomfort with the new environment. Despite being married for 65 years, the couple felt constrained and sought independence.
