Police in Greece have apprehended a man following multiple shootings targeting women. The 89-year-old suspect was found in a hotel armed with a loaded 38 caliber revolver, having previously used a rifle in the attacks. The man reportedly shot four women and a man in two separate incidents in Kerameikos, concealing his weapon during the assaults.

Initial reports indicate that the suspect entered the EFKA office, a social security office in Greece, where he shot an employee before proceeding to Loukareos Street in the Court of Appeals area, where he injured four more women. The individual is said to be an elderly refuse collector, and law enforcement launched a manhunt leading to his arrest in the Patras region.

Rapid Action Police officers detained the suspect and transferred him to the Achaia Police Department for further investigation. Following the shootings, one male victim, an EFKA employee, was taken to the hospital, along with four female employees from the Athens Court of First Instance who sustained similar injuries.

According to the president of the Athens Bar Association, the suspect left letters at the crime scenes addressed to newspapers. Witnesses reported that the suspect forced his way into the EFKA building, shot the male employee, and then proceeded to the Court of Appeals, where he shot the four women before leaving the firearm behind and disappearing.

Eyewitnesses at the Court of Appeals recounted the suspect’s actions, mentioning that he entered wearing a blue trench coat and fired shots before leaving the scene abruptly. The incident has sparked a manhunt and raised concerns about the safety and security of the affected areas.
