An England supporter has gone missing while en route to the United States for the World Cup, prompting his family to issue a plea for assistance in locating him. Michael Hewitt, also known as “Little Mick” among his acquaintances, departed from Leeds on June 20 to travel across the Atlantic to Boston to watch the national team play. However, communication with him abruptly ceased during a layover in Barcelona, Spain.

Concerns arose when Mr. Hewitt failed to reach his intended destination in America. His brother, Mike Wakefield, disclosed that the last communication from Michael was made during his stopover in Barcelona, as per reports from NeedToKnow. Since June 21, there has been no activity on Mr. Hewitt’s phone, and his social media accounts have remained inactive. Wakefield expressed, “On Saturday, June 20, Mick left Leeds headed for Boston, USA to attend one of England’s World Cup matches, with a layover in Barcelona.”

“He seems not to have arrived in Boston, and the last we heard from him was from Barcelona in the early hours of Sunday, June 21. Subsequently, his phone has been out of service, and there have been no updates on social media. Naturally, we are deeply concerned for his well-being.”

The family has reported Mr. Hewitt missing, and a case has been initiated with the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office under reference number 02470905. Interpol has been contacted as efforts are made to determine if he continued his journey beyond Spain. Law enforcement is conducting an inquiry under case reference 20260628/1183.

Wakefield further stated, “Known affectionately as ‘Little Mick,’ particularly within the Leeds United community, he is a recognizable figure among countless Whites fans worldwide, having supported the club for many years.”
