The former wife of a man who fell victim to a fatal acid attack reportedly sent him alarming text messages shortly before the tragic incident, as disclosed in court.
Paris Wilson allegedly conveyed threatening messages to her ex-husband, Danny Cahalane, expressing wishes for both him and his girlfriend to suffer from acid attacks. Days following these texts, two masked individuals invaded Cahalane’s residence during the night and carried out a vicious assault.
During the trial at Winchester Crown Court, it was revealed that the 38-year-old personal trainer, involved in drug dealings, owed a substantial sum of approximately £120,000 to a suspected drug lord identified as Frost, also known as Ryan Kennedy, believed to be residing in Dubai.
According to prosecutors, Frost was irate due to Cahalane’s repeated failure to repay the debt and was determined to impose a severe punishment as a consequence of his perceived disrespect. The prosecution alleged that Frost intended to ensure Cahalane did not undermine his authority. In February 2025, two assailants forcibly entered Cahalane’s bedroom in his Plymouth residence while his young daughter was present.
During a terrifying assault lasting over six minutes, Cahalane was subjected to a sulfuric acid attack and stabbed while trying to defend himself. The injuries sustained proved fatal, leading to his demise in the hospital ten weeks later. Wilson, aged 34, was accused of being Frost’s key contact in Plymouth.
She purportedly assisted in locating her ex-husband for the drug kingpin to retrieve his money, under the understanding that Frost would financially reward her. Prosecutor Joanna Martin KC informed the jury that Wilson orchestrated Cahalane’s setup in anticipation of monetary gain and because she believed he deserved punishment.
Wilson reportedly expressed intense animosity towards her ex-husband to her mother, accusing him of theft from Frost. Additionally, she messaged Cahalane about his dishonesty and her awareness of his actions.
Prosecutors claimed that Wilson was aware of Frost’s intentions to take action and indicated her knowledge of the impending acid attack with her threats. Allegations further suggested that Wilson had previously enticed Cahalane to her residence a month before the assault, where three men attempted to abduct him.
The acid attack was reportedly carried out by two individuals, Israel Augustus, aged 25, charged alongside another male, as disclosed in court. Cahalane recounted to the authorities from his hospital bed that the attackers wielded knives and a screwdriver, demanding information on the money’s whereabouts while pouring acid on him.
In a desperate struggle, Cahalane stated that he fought back against one of the attackers with the screwdriver and attempted to defend himself before the assailants fled through the rear of the house and escaped in a stolen vehicle nearby.
Wilson denied allegations of murder, manslaughter, attempted kidnapping, attempted grievous bodily harm, and involvement in an organized crime group between January and April 2025. Nine other defendants, comprising seven men and two women, similarly refuted various associated charges.
The trial concerning Wilson is ongoing.
