A father of two tragically passed away several weeks after being viciously attacked outside his home, leaving his devastated children and ex-wife mourning his loss.
Graham Hyslop, aged 55, was assaulted in Sandown on the Isle of Wight on February 19. He was knocked out of his wheelchair, spat on, kicked, and robbed of his bank card by three teenagers aged 14 and 15. Despite being treated for head and arm injuries, he succumbed to his injuries. His ex-wife described him as a loving family man who did not deserve the brutal attack.
Although investigations are ongoing, the circumstances surrounding Mr. Hyslop’s death are currently unexplained and not directly linked to the prior assault. Hazel Hyslop, his former wife, shared that they remained close despite their separation in 2017 due to his health issues.
On the day of the attack, Graham had gone outside in his wheelchair to retrieve an item that had been thrown onto his property. He was confronted by his attackers who physically assaulted him, causing him to lose his bank card. Despite the ordeal, he remained resilient until his untimely death on March 1.
His sudden passing has left his family in shock and grief. Hazel expressed her anger over his death, emphasizing his kind-hearted nature and dedication to his loved ones. Two of his children, Chloe and Jack, are struggling to cope with the loss in their own ways.
The family has launched a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe to cover Graham’s funeral expenses, aiming to give him a dignified farewell. They are seeking donations to honor his memory and allow friends and family to bid him a proper goodbye. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary have been approached for comments on the case.
