A former head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has warned that the Ebola outbreak could escalate into a major pandemic. Robert Redfield expressed his concerns during an interview on NewsNation on May 20, stating that he anticipates the situation could intensify significantly and potentially spread to neighboring countries like Tanzania, southern Sudan, and Rwanda.
Redfield emphasized the potential for widespread disruption due to the contagious nature of Ebola, which is primarily transmitted through contact with bodily fluids. The disease is notorious for causing severe haemorrhagic fever, rapid failure of multiple organs, and both internal and external bleeding.
