After transitioning from the rugby field to the dance stage on the popular show Strictly Come Dancing, former England captain Chris Robshaw is considering a new venture into reality TV by eyeing a potential spot on Celebrity Traitors.
In an exclusive interview with Mirror, Chris, 39, expressed his interest in following the footsteps of his close friend Joe Marler, who participated in the celebrity version of the BBC show last year. Reflecting on the possibility, Chris mentioned, “I think I’d be like Alan Carr – I don’t know if I could lie well enough, but he did alright, to be fair. He was brilliant. I haven’t watched the civilian series, but Joe Marler was amazing. I’ve known him since he was 18; we go way back.”
Having embraced the challenge of competing on Strictly alongside his professional dance partner Nadiya Bychkova, Chris, despite being eliminated in week four, thoroughly enjoyed the experience. He praised his partner, saying, “I had an incredible partner in Nadia, who helped me massively, and we had great fun. The whole Strictly experience is like being in a bubble, and I honestly can’t speak highly enough of it.”
Regarding the imminent departure of Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly from the show, Chris acknowledged the big shoes that their successors would have to fill. He mentioned, “Whoever takes it on has big shoes to fill. Jeanette [Manrara] does a great job on It Takes Two, so she’d be good. I’m sure the BBC has a long list. Maybe I’m on it – put a fiver on those odds!”
As he reminisced about his decision to join Strictly, Chris shared his wife’s initial reaction, noting her laughter at his dance skills. However, he highlighted her support and encouragement for him to take on the challenge. Chris also mentioned that his young sons were excited about his participation, emphasizing the importance of stepping out of one’s comfort zone and embracing new challenges.
In a separate event, Chris attended the Cirque du Soleil “OVO” VIP premiere at Royal Albert Hall.
