“Former Hampshire Police Officer Falsely Accused in Nowak Case Seeks Safety”

Published on

A former Hampshire Police constable has been wrongly accused online of involvement in the arrest of Henry Nowak, leading her to seek refuge in a safe location. Christi Hill, a police constable with 12 years of service, has denounced social media and AI-driven platforms like Elon Musk’s Grok for spreading false information linking her to the arrest of Mr. Nowak in Southampton last December. The incident involved the tragic murder of the 18-year-old, who was fatally stabbed multiple times and neglected by responding officers who handcuffed him and dragged him while he was dying and struggling to breathe.

Ms. Hill, who left the Hampshire Constabulary in April 2024, clarified that she was not part of the police force when Mr. Nowak was killed in December 2025. She expressed deep sadness and concern for her reputation and safety due to the widespread circulation of her name and image on social media and AI platforms falsely connecting her to the case.

According to Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, another male officer was also wrongly implicated and had to vacate his residence. Both officers were erroneously identified through social media and Grok, with the AI assistant incorrectly claiming they were the officers shown in bodycam footage arresting Mr. Nowak. The distressing footage depicted the moment Mr. Nowak was restrained on the ground and removed from the scene as officers responded to a call regarding a racially charged attack.

Despite Mr. Nowak’s pleas about being stabbed and struggling to breathe, one male officer doubted his claims, while a female voice questioned the severity of his injuries. Mr. Nowak was subsequently arrested for assault, but efforts to save him with CPR failed due to the severity of his wounds.

Ms. Hill expressed alarm at being wrongfully linked to such a sensitive case and criticized the lack of support from Hampshire Constabulary in correcting the misinformation promptly. She emphasized the importance of justice and clarity for the affected family and called for the dissemination of accurate information rather than online falsehoods.

As the incident unfolds, it highlights the dangers of misinformation and the potential consequences of algorithmic errors in the digital age.
