Former Home Secretary Suella Braverman, who was dismissed twice from her Cabinet positions by Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak, has joined Reform, aligning herself with Nigel Farage’s party. Speaking at a rally in Westminster, Braverman criticized the Tories for lacking courage and resolve, stating that Britain is facing significant challenges such as uncontrolled immigration and strained public services.
Braverman’s move to Reform comes after a series of controversies, including accusations of leaking confidential documents and making unauthorized attacks on police chiefs. Despite facing backlash for previous statements on homelessness and seeking special treatment for a traffic offense, Braverman has now found a new political home with Reform.
Critics, including Labour’s Anna Turley and Lib Dem’s Daisy Cooper, have lambasted Braverman’s defection to Reform, labeling it as a sign of Farage accepting failed Tory members. They argue that while Reform focuses on career moves, the Labour Government led by Keir Starmer is prioritizing issues like reducing the cost of living and improving the healthcare system.
In response to Braverman’s switch, political opponents have emphasized the importance of staying true to core values and principles, suggesting that only the Liberal Democrats are representing the voice of the majority who seek a compassionate and responsible government.
