Richard Hammond, the former host of the popular show Top Gear, has been fined for speeding violations in his high-performance cars. The 56-year-old celebrity was caught breaking the speed limit twice within three weeks. The first incident occurred while he was driving a Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo on December 2, followed by another violation on December 22 in his Bentley Continental GT.

Police used speed camera images to prosecute Hammond for the offenses, sending letters to his various properties in an attempt to locate him. Eventually, he pleaded guilty to two charges of speeding and received seven penalty points on his license at Telford Magistrates’ Court.

Magistrate Ann Minton ordered Hammond to pay a total of £1,771 in fines, costs, and victim surcharges. Court documents revealed that he was clocked at 68mph in a 50mph zone in Herefordshire while driving the Porsche and at 82mph in a 70mph zone in the Bentley.

Despite initial difficulties locating Hammond, police eventually found him at his mansion in Wales, where he owns a significant number of vehicles. Additional charges against him for failing to respond to police letters were withdrawn as he was already convicted for the speeding offenses in a fast-track court process.

Hammond was one of 39 defendants convicted of driving offenses during the court session on July 22. His solicitor admitted to the speeding charges but denied the other allegations, stating that Hammond had identified himself as the driver in response to the police letters.
