Four women have come forward with accusations of criminal sexual conduct against Jared Leto, a singer and actor. These allegations date back to when the women were teenagers. The women shared their experiences in a recent BBC documentary titled “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret.”
According to the documentary, one woman stated that Leto sexually assaulted her in a motel bathroom when she was 17. Another woman claimed she was threatened with assault in a hotel room at the age of 19. Additionally, one woman mentioned having engaged in under-age sex with Leto in California when she was 17, below the legal age of consent. Another woman alleged that Leto groomed her, recounting sexually explicit phone conversations at the age of 16, during which Leto suggested sexual activities and requested her to sign a non-disclosure agreement, which she declined.
The documentary featured a total of 10 women who spoke to the BBC, detailing incidents that occurred between 2002 and 2016, with some of the allegations dating back to when they were as young as 14. One of the victims expressed frustration about the time elapsed since the incidents, stating that Leto had evaded accountability for 25 years.
Former colleagues of Leto’s band also claimed that he would invite teenage girls backstage or to his dressing room, with some visits occurring at his recording studio or home. Concerns were raised about the significant age gap in these interactions.
Jared Leto, aged 54, is known for his roles in films such as “Dallas Buyers Club” and “Suicide Squad” where he portrayed the character of the Joker. In 2025, Leto denied allegations of sexual misconduct following multiple accusations from various women.
An investigation conducted by Air Mail magazine reported that nine women accused Leto of inappropriate behavior while they were teenagers. Leto, who has never been married, was previously engaged to actress Cameron Diaz and dated Russian model Valery Kaufman.
