Hundreds of individuals were seen fleeing a beach in the United States after mistaken gunshots caused panic during a spring break event. The commotion at Daytona Beach in Florida on March 14 was actually triggered by people crushing water bottles, not gunfire, as initially feared.

Sheriff Mike Chitwood of Volusia County clarified that there were no gunshots on the beach, debunking the viral video that circulated following the incident. Despite four shootings reported in Daytona Beach since Friday, none of them were connected to the mass panic observed in the footage. Over the weekend, law enforcement made 80 arrests and confiscated six weapons in the area.

Video footage captured from a hotel balcony showed beachgoers screaming and scattering as the false alarm spread. In separate incidents, one shot was fired during a bar fight on Friday, with no injuries reported. Additionally, a shooting occurred outside a nearby Crunch Fitness shortly after, while two beachside shootings were reported on Saturday. Authorities are looking into whether any of these incidents are linked to the spring break festivities.
