From 90s Band Member to Hollywood Star: Craig Robert Young’s Thriving Journey

Published on

Craig Robert Young started his professional journey at the age of 19 as a member of the popular 90s band Deuce, capturing the hearts of teenage fans while touring the UK alongside Lisa Armstrong, Kelly O’Keefe, and Paul Holmes. Now based in Los Angeles with his husband, Craig has transitioned into a thriving acting career, collaborating with some of Hollywood’s biggest names.

In a recent interview, the 52-year-old actor reflected on his early days in Deuce, reminiscing about the wild experiences they had, including playful encounters with members of Blur. Despite the band’s youthful antics, Craig fondly recalls the dedicated fans who would eagerly wait outside hotels, demonstrating their unwavering support with gifts and heartfelt gestures.

Maintaining a close friendship with Lisa Armstrong, Craig praised her resilience and positive outlook on life, especially in light of her professional challenges. Reflecting on his music career, Craig admitted that while he enjoyed his time in Deuce, he acknowledges his strengths as an entertainer rather than a musician.

Although he misses the connections and familiarity of the UK, Craig finds solace in the vibrant atmosphere of Hollywood, where he resides with his husband and two dogs. Living near the iconic Hollywood sign, Craig enjoys the sunny weather and the sense of opportunity that California offers, emphasizing the ease of accomplishing goals in the United States.

Amidst encounters with Hollywood celebrities like Stanley Tucci and Jeff Goldblum, Craig highlighted his collaborative experiences on the show “The World According To Jeff Goldblum,” praising Goldblum’s down-to-earth demeanor and passion for his craft. Transitioning from music to acting, Craig’s career has seen notable achievements, including his role as Charlie Chaplin in the acclaimed film “Mank.”

Craig’s latest project, the film “Wannabe: All Washed Up,” which he co-wrote and produced, delves into themes of reinvention and personal fulfillment. The mockumentary-style film explores the journey of a former teen idol, Steve Williams, as he navigates the pursuit of relevance and happiness beyond his past fame.

“Wannabe: All Washed Up” is currently available for streaming on Prime Video and Tubi, offering viewers a glimpse into Craig Robert Young’s creative storytelling and his passion for engaging narratives.
