Heartbroken TV personality Monty Don has sadly announced the passing of his cherished dog Peggy. Monty’s canine companions are well-known to viewers of the popular BBC show “Gardeners’ World,” where they occasionally make appearances alongside him.
The 70-year-old gardening expert shared the heartbreaking news on his Instagram account, expressing, “Peggy passed away yesterday. She was an elderly dog, just a few weeks shy of her 16th birthday, and she departed peacefully, reflecting her gentle nature.”
Describing Peggy as an eccentric and loving dog, Monty expressed his deep sense of loss, stating that she now rests in the coppice area alongside his other beloved dogs, Nigel and Nell.
Messages of support poured in from Monty’s followers, offering condolences and acknowledging the special bond between humans and their canine companions. The team at Gardeners’ World magazine also expressed their sympathies for Monty’s loss.
In addition to Peggy, Monty has two other dogs, namely Ned and Patti. He fondly remembered his late dog, Nigel, who passed away in 2020, remarking on Nigel’s happy and peaceful demeanor until the end. Monty also paid tribute to Nellie, another of his dogs, who passed away in 2023, expressing gratitude for the joy she brought into his life.
