A man and a child are in critical condition following a gas canister explosion that occurred within a vehicle in West Yorkshire. The incident happened at approximately 2.15pm on Sunday outside the Hare and Hounds Inn on Liley Lane, Mirfield. Emergency services discovered five individuals inside the vehicle, including four children and one man, all of whom sustained severe burns and were promptly transported to the hospital for medical care. Among the victims, a 43-year-old man and an eight-year-old girl sustained life-threatening injuries, while the other three children are believed to have sustained injuries that will significantly alter their lives. West Yorkshire Police stated that, although investigations are underway, there are no indications of foul play involved. Yorkshire Live reported that the explosion, which took place near Huddersfield, was triggered by a gas canister blast inside a tipper truck, prompting the dispatch of air ambulance crews to the scene. West Yorkshire Police issued a statement affirming that inquiries into the incident are ongoing, with no suspicions of any criminal activities.
