Gemma Atkinson has criticized men who have mocked her accent as “snide.” The 41-year-old, a native of Bury, Greater Manchester, continues to reside in the city with Gorka Marquez and their two children.
During a recent episode of their Lost in Translation podcast, Gorka, a professional dancer from Strictly Come Dancing, shared that he finds it amusing when Gemma uses expressions like “me house.” He expressed his fondness for this unique aspect of her way of speaking.
Gorka affectionately mentioned, “Everything is always with ‘me.’ It’s endearing when you say ‘me house,’ ‘me calf’.”
However, Gemma disclosed that she has faced criticism from men on social media for her accent. She recounted receiving messages that praised her appearance until she spoke, at which point they expressed disdain for her accent.
In response, Gemma jokingly said, “I’m glad you find it attractive, that’s all that matters, right, you and Tom Hardy, no one else needs to.”
Despite being engaged and sharing children Mia and Thiago, Gemma and Gorka have not yet married. Gemma revealed in a heartfelt letter written for Father’s Day that her late father’s memory has influenced her decision to delay tying the knot.
She expressed, “I’m getting married, Dad! One day, anyway. I think one of the reasons we’ve not done it yet is because of you.”
Gemma went on to share her emotional connection to her father and how her remaining tie to him through her last name has made her hesitant to change it by getting married.
Gorka has mentioned that they plan to marry once their son Thiago becomes more independent. He emphasized the importance of waiting for the right timing, especially considering their children’s needs.
