Former Hollyoaks actress Gemma Atkinson faced a humorous challenge during a Spanish lesson with her partner Gorka Márquez, who attempted to introduce her to some unique idioms from Spain.

In their podcast titled Lost in Translation, Gemma encountered difficulties grasping expressions like “throw the house out of the window,” meaning to spend extravagantly, and “having no hairs on the tongue,” which describes someone who speaks bluntly.

The couple particularly struggled with the phrase “Tener males plugs,” which translates to “Having bad fleas” and signifies a person with a bad temper. Gemma humorously identified someone in her life fitting that description, playfully teasing Gorka.

In a light-hearted exchange, Gorka theatrically exited the podcast studio, only to return and teach Gemma another Spanish phrase, explaining that calling someone a “Chorizo” means they are light-fingered, a surprising twist in meanings.

During a recent child-free getaway, Gemma and Gorka’s plans for a romantic evening turned chaotic as Gemma fell ill, attributing it to overeating. Despite their two young children not being present, the evening took an unexpected turn with Gemma experiencing a stomach upset.

Reflecting on the incident, Gemma jokingly blamed her own indulgence for the mishap, leading to a night of discomfort and illness, which humorously disrupted their time away from their children.
