In a post accompanying the image, Holly, who is currently pregnant with her second child, emphasized the importance of seeking immediate medical attention if a child’s or one’s own eye shows similar swelling.

Initially mistaking the condition for conjunctivitis, Holly mentioned that her son displayed no other symptoms and seemed normal otherwise. After seeking advice from a pharmacist and subsequently returning to the doctor, it was diagnosed as periorbital cellulitis – an infection affecting the eyelid and surrounding eye area, often triggered by scratches, bug bites, or infections.

Periorbital cellulitis is a bacterial infection that typically responds well to antibiotic treatment but necessitates swift medical intervention to avoid complications, according to information from the NHS.

Updating on Alpha-Jax’s progress, Holly expressed relief that he is now on the path to recovery. She also highlighted the importance of timely treatment, noting that delaying medical attention could lead to a more severe condition like orbital cellulitis.

While his eye has shown improvement and is not worsening, Holly shared her experience to raise awareness about the seriousness of such conditions and the necessity of prompt treatment.
