“Get Ready: 2026’s First ‘Ring of Fire’ Solar Eclipse Tomorrow”

Published on

Stargazers around the world are eagerly anticipating the first solar eclipse of the year, also known as the “ring of fire” phenomenon. This celestial event occurs when the Earth, sun, and moon align, with the moon passing directly between the sun and Earth, creating a shadow that blocks the Sun’s light.

Scheduled for tomorrow at 7:10 am, the 2026’s first solar eclipse will follow a path of annularity starting in western Antarctica and moving across the Davis Sea coast and the Southern Ocean. Unfortunately, the eclipse will not be visible in the UK, but there are 12 international locations where observers may witness this spectacular event, each with a varying percentage of the sun’s disk coverage.

For those who miss this eclipse, the next opportunity to witness a lunar eclipse, also known as a ‘Blood Moon’, will be between March 3 to March 4. Approximately 31% of the global population will have the chance to see this event, with North America, New Zealand, and East Asia being the most favorable locations. The eclipse is expected to last for approximately 58 minutes.
