Giovanna Fletcher recently shared her experience of a heartbreaking miscarriage that occurred unexpectedly last year. The 40-year-old, known for her role on I’m A Celeb, is a mother to three sons – Buzz, Buddy, and Max – with her husband, Tom Fletcher, who is a singer in the band McFly.
In celebration of the 300th episode of her podcast, Giovanna was interviewed by her friend Emma Willis. During the interview, she disclosed, “I had another miscarriage last year, a chemical pregnancy, well it was a surprise pregnancy.”
Expressing her thoughts on the matter on the Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast, Giovanna emphasized that she disagrees with the common practice of waiting until the 12-week mark to share news of a pregnancy. She believes that having the support of loved ones in case of a miscarriage is crucial.
Reflecting on how the miscarriage impacted her plans for the future, Giovanna mentioned, “When the pregnancy ended, I suddenly thought well, I need to maybe change how I do things in 2026, because I need to be able to enjoy the things I am doing, rather than constantly feeling like I am just getting through the things.”
The experience of going through a miscarriage at the age of 40 felt very different to Giovanna compared to her previous pregnancies. She expressed, “It’s one of those things where if the pregnancy had worked out, then it would have been a blessing. What a blessing to have another baby, like that is such an incredible thing.”
Giovanna had previously opened up about facing a miscarriage with her first baby before the birth of her sons. She described the feeling of her body “failing” her during that difficult time.
