Graham Norton recently shared insights into his exclusive meeting with Madonna for a special program. The two met in London’s Camden, where Madonna performed her first UK concert in 1983. During their discussion, Madonna reminisced about her early days in New York, her connection with the UK, and her recent appearance at Coachella, along with other highlights from her career.
The show also featured special guests, including Madonna’s longtime collaborator Stuart Price, offering Graham exclusive details about Madonna’s latest album, including the stories, inspirations, and creative process behind the record. Having interviewed Madonna multiple times, Graham mentioned a memorable live Q&A session he hosted with her in London for the Madame X album launch.
Graham revealed that Madonna had a strict policy of only signing tattoos related to her 2019 album, which surprised many fans who had already inked such tattoos. When asked if interviewing Madonna was intimidating, Graham admitted to Gary Davies that it was, as Madonna doesn’t entertain irrelevant questions or interviewers she doesn’t approve of.
Reflecting on his interactions with Madonna over the years, Graham shared an amusing anecdote about being invited on stage during one of her tours, despite his initial reluctance. He described his dance moves on stage as “epic dad dancing,” finding it embarrassing yet enjoyable at the time.
Discussing Madonna’s recent interview, Graham mentioned that she arrived with a small team of longstanding associates, emphasizing the efficiency and professionalism of her team. The interview took place in various locations, including a dance floor, recording studio, and a bar at the top.
The Madonna and Graham special will be broadcast tonight at 10.40 pm on BBC One.
