Former football manager Harry Redknapp emerged as the victorious ‘King of the Jungle’ in the 2018 edition of the popular TV show I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! However, his son, former England star Jamie Redknapp, revealed that Harry entered the show with the wrong mindset.

Jamie shared on the AFC Bournemouth podcast how he confronted his dad after learning about his participation in the show through a news report in the Mirror. Despite Jamie’s attempts to explain the challenges of the show, Harry remained optimistic, thinking there would be an abundance of food available.

Harry, who had retired from football management the year before, ended up winning the series and returned as an ‘All Star’ contestant in the following season. Jamie noted that his dad’s disinterest in food and tendency to skip meals likely helped him cope with the limited rations in the Jungle.

Reflecting on his own career, Jamie disclosed that he faced numerous setbacks due to injuries while playing in the Premier League for clubs like Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Southampton. He recalled a significant injury incident during a match against Bristol City in the FA Cup, where he suffered a meniscus tear but continued playing after a swift surgical procedure.

Despite the challenges he faced, Jamie acknowledged his luck and gratitude for the opportunities he has had. He also touched on his reputation for being injury-prone, attributing it to his honesty and determination to continue playing despite physical setbacks.
